Haldiram’s Food is an Indian Sweet, Snack, and Restaurants Company. It is a well-known company in the food industry and was founded by Ganga Bhishan Agarwal. The Haldiram is based out of Dehli and Nagpur and maintains its own retail store chain as well as restaurants in Nagpur, Dehli, Kolkata, Noida, and Pune.

History-

Haldiram’s Food was founded in 1937 by Ganga Bishan Agarwal (Haldiram’s) at Bikaner, Rajasthan. During that period of time Haldiram’s mostly known for retail Sweet and Namkeen Shop. This shop gained popularity in a short period of time, due to its unique testing Bhujia. As per the Market gained, they started expansion drives for their production or increasing manufacturing capacity. Haldiram’s first manufacturing plant was started in Kolkata, West Bengal. After the huge response to their food products, they also invested in one another manufacturing factories in different regions.

Haldiram’s Food adopted Haldiram’s Bhujiawala trademarks in 1941. Bhushan wants to expand its business to other cities like Kolkata, Nagpur, Noida, etc. In 1972, they filed an application for registration of Haldiram’s unit all over India. Nagpur manufacturing plant is the largest plant of Haldiram’s in India.

Under the family management, Bishan’s son Moolchand was carrying the business in all the territories, except West Bengal. In the 1980s another son of Bishan, Rameshwarlal, and his son Prabhu Shankar allowed them to establish their business for some Products by using Haldiram’s trademarks in Kolkata, West Bengal. In 2003, the company also began the convenience food (ready-to-eat) processing unit to capture the foodie consumers.

The Haldiram’s Bhujia Building legacy came from his grandfather Haldiram’ Ji to Mr Shivkishan Agarwal. After that, he drives the business towards success.

Haldiram Products and Market Share-

Haldiram’s food has 400 plus Products in different segments like sweets, snacks, cookies, Nankeen, sherbets, Pickles, etc. The company has food convenience or frozen food (ready-to-eat food) units in metro cities like Nagpur, Pune, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Haldiram’s restaurant-packed snacks contributed 80% of sales for the Market leader. They maintain their own retail store supply line at various retail locations.

Haldiram’s food products are sold in approximately 80 countries all over the world. Bhujia’s contribution is more than other products. All the products go through food safety measures and some testing processes for human safety. The Haldiram Brand has grown by a huge amount throughout the past few years. In 2017, it was crowned as the largest snack company in India. They surpassed all other domestic and international competitors in the snacks Nankeen sweet segment. 

Haldiram’s crossed the 1 billion sales mark in India and their business doubled over the past four years.

Haldiram Investment and Business-

Haldiram’s Foods started from one small shop and now it’s become India’s largest snacks company. They were invested in technologies and quality aspects of the equipment. In the 1990s, Haldiram started manufacturing plants at Nagpur considering the Bhujia demands in the market. The Nagpur-based Haldiram’s unit expanded on 100 acres of land. Haldiram’s food restaurants are also available in some metro cities like Delhi, Nagpur, Pune, Hyderabad, etc., and its revenue generated Rs 713 Crore during FY19 according to the Veratech Intelligence agency. Haldiram’s food products are selling in around 80 plus countries and in these countries, Indian diaspora people love to eat Indian foods.

Haldiram’s is very traditional in terms of product advertising and promotion. They tied up with the ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (PRDP) Movie and they printed a 1.5 Crore snacks packet with the PRDP film logo. The film also promoted food convenience products.

Haldiram has been winning many awards and recognization certificates. Haldiram got the International Food Award from TROFEO by International Alimentation of Barcelona, Spain (1999). The Chairman of Haldiram’s group Shivkishan Ji Agarwal received the ‘Vidharbh Gaurav Puraskar|’.
